Urban spaces
This street was named after the Cuban city of Cienfuegos, also known as the Pearl of the South, which was founded by the Spanish colonial authorities in the early 19th century, on the island’s southern coast. Its first inhabitants were French settlers. Declared a World Heritage Site, it boasts a number of Renaissance, Neoclassical and modernist buildings. The brickworks of the Grau family was located on Carrer Cienfuegos. Brickworks, where tiles, roofing tiles and bricks are fired, proliferated around roads and highways, such as is the case of this brickworks, located near the Carretera de Dalt, currently Carrer de Concepción Arenal.
