The Mossèn Jacint Verdaguer school, housed in a 1929 International Exposition building, is one of the most emblematic schools in the Poble-sec neighbourhood.

  • Cultural heritage

This building in the Noucentisme style (early 19th century Catalan architectural style), with sgraffito façades, was built in 1923 as the head office for organising the International Exposition of 1929 and to carry out the necessary urban development work. Once the exhibition was over, in 1930 it was converted into Mossèn Jacint Verdaguer School, which opened in 1931. Because of a lack of space, the school also occupied the yard of the Fire Brigade Headquarters.
