Citizen participation

Coordinated by the Polis Research Centre Group at the University of Barcelona, the project was created through a participatory process, first started in 2004 when a group of young people considered what they could do as citizens and local residents of Baró de Viver to improve their neighbourhood and raise its profile. The Baró de Viver’s associations and residents were involved in the memorial mural’s creation, which covers the most important events that make up the history of the neighbourhood.

History turned into urban design

The mural features, through texts and images, highlyrepresentative events  such as the foundation of the neighbourhood in 1929, the flooding of 1943, its annexation to Barcelona in 1945, the arrival of the metro in 1983 and the construction of the Nus de la Trinitat highway interchange. It was officially launched on 11 February, 2011.

Observacions
