The goal of these subsidies is to resolve the urban challenges facing Barcelona, or to drive new technology through innovation.

The call aims to foster collaboration between universities, research centres, third-sector organisations and the city’s economic network. Because of this, the call is only open to projects presented by a group of at least three legal persons working together to promote synergies.

This measure to promote local talent and science jobs forms part of the Strategic Plan on Science and Innovation 2024-2027, which seeks to strengthen research in the city and provide support for science careers in Barcelona and the metropolitan region.

Projects will be funded by up to 80% of their cost, with a maximum of 150,000 euros per initiative. The application period is from 8 April to 19 May and research projects must be for a maximum period of 24 months. An information session is being held on 29 April.

The programme has two million euros available, with the City Council contributing 1.2 millon and the Fundació La Caixa the other 800,000 euros.
