A future for industrial buildings

The Fundación Privada Centro de Producción Artística y Cultural Palo Alto was in charge of transforming this building into a creative cluster, which has become a benchmark space in the city: Palo Alto has been a pioneer in connecting twenty- first-century innovation with the building's industrial past. Aware of this fact, the foundation organises a host of cultural activities, exhibitions and tours of the complex, and it hosts the popular Palo Alto Market, held the first weekend of every month, inspired by European street markets. The building's lush garden is also open to visits.

When palo alto ran on steam

The Gal i Puigsech factory, designed by the architect Antoni Vila i Bruguera, was built in 1875 as a textile complex but it changed owners and uses throughout its history. It consists of various buildings and a courtyard with the emblematic chimney that bears witness to its past as a factory.
